Demetris Taxitaris, FCA

Demetris Taxitaris is the Chief Executive Officer of MAP S.Platis, a leading consulting Group in the provision of licensing, regulatory compliance, internal audit, risk management, human resource consulting, regulatory technology, executive training, innovation consulting and other services for regulated firms in the financial services industry. His clients include regulators, banking and payment institutions, investment firms, insurance firms and investment funds and their managers. Demetris supervises a number of engagements related to compliance with various regulatory frameworks, the introduction or amendment of policies and procedures, the provision of advice on governance matters, the mediation during regulatory proceedings and the provision of practical advice on a range of regulatory frameworks.

In August 2013, Demetris founded Symmetria F.S. Limited, a regulated Cyprus-based investment advisory, research and analysis firm, supporting a number of institutional clients, corporates and selected individuals for a number of years. From January 2001, he worked at Bank of Cyprus Group in Nicosia, being involved in the construction and management of the leading asset management and advisory unit in Cyprus, with local and international clients, individuals and institutionals, across all industries. He resigned in August 2013 as Head, Asset Management. Prior to that, Demetris worked at Deloitte in London where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, becoming a member of the ICAEW.

Demetris Taxitaris is a member of the Boards of Directors of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (‘ICPAC’), the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (‘CIFA’) and the Association of Cyprus International Financial Firms (‘ACIFF’). For a number of years, he has been an instructor in courses for the European regulatory framework for finance and investments. He served as a member of the Advisory Committee on Investment Funds of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (‘CIPA’) and a member of the Corporate Reporting Standing Committee’s Consultative Working Group of the European Securities and Markets Authority (‘ESMA’).

He holds a BSc. Mathematics with Statistics from Imperial College (first class honours) and a MSc. Mathematical Trading and Finance from Cass Business School (distinction).
